The Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation, a 501(C)(3) Non-Profit Corporation, will consider for eligibility for receipt of a scholarship; each person except, Foundation employees, officers, directors or trustees or near relatives of any such person, who completes this application and who meets the minimum requirements for application as stated below.  Each completed application submitted that meets the requirements will be reviewed.  One certificate of scholarship in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00) will be awarded per school year to the applicant whom the Scholarship Committee determines best meets the intent and purpose of this scholarship.  The scholarship will be paid, upon admission, to the institution at which the successful candidate has been admitted.

 

The intent of this scholarship is to provide monetary assistance to a post high school student intending to further their education in the field of conservation and/or environmental science.

 

The purpose of this scholarship is to further the Mission of the Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation which is

"to support the efforts of the Vermilion County Conservation District through the conservation of our natural resources, improvement of natural and scenic areas, and enhancement of the quality of life through all resource preservation".

 

Requirements for scholarship eligibility:

 

A.     A high school diploma, with a Grade Point Average meeting or exceeding 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.25 on a 5.0 scale.  A copy of grade transcript must be attached.

 

B.    Proof of acceptance at an accredited university, college, or community college in a conservation and/or environmental science field of study.  Please attach a copy of your letter of acceptance or other proof of acceptance.

 

C.    Written intent to obtain a degree in conservation and/or environmental science including a brief written explanation of how the chosen field of study will contribute to conservation and/or environmental improvement.  Determination of curriculum suitability will be the decision of the Scholarship Committee.  Scholarship Committee decisions are based on the information the applicant provides and as such are final.

 

D.    Applicant must be a resident of Vermilion County Illinois.  Residency is defined as having maintained your principal residence in Vermilion County for a minimum of the six months prior to application.

 

E.     Completed application must be received by the Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation, at the address below, no later than May 1st of the calendar year applied for.  The scholarship will become effective with the Fall term of that calendar year.
